What the official guidance establishes

IRCC publishes dedicated police-certificate instructions and country-specific obtaining guidance. The applicable programme and issuing-country instructions are the source for a Canadian request, rather than a general moving checklist. Read IRCC: police certificates for the original scope and current instructions.

Build one row per requested country

Use the programme’s actual request to identify the relevant countries and people. Record the exact certificate name and issuing authority from the official country instructions. Keep a residence-history reconstruction separate from deciding what the application requests.

Put issue and submission dates in context

Record the timing instruction stated for the relevant programme, the request already made and any issuer’s delivery information. Avoid treating another applicant’s certificate age as your rule. If timing is unclear, ask a question that includes the programme, country and actual application stage.

Plan around genuine delays

Keep request receipts and the issuer’s messages. Read the authority’s stated process for an unavailable record or a deadline problem before sending an explanation. Do not mark a receipt or fingerprint booking as the completed certificate.

Your working sheet

Worked planning example

A fictional applicant has lived in several countries, but the programme requests certificates using its own stated conditions. They build the list from those instructions and research each issuer separately. They do not reuse a timing rule copied from a different programme.

Keep the final certificate and the timing source together for review. Keep the next action in the moving planner and use the guide library for the next part of your move.
