Intra-company transfer planning: build an employer-to-employer handover

Coordinate an intra-company move by naming the legal home employer, host employer and actual assignment. Research the destination’s transfer route rather than assuming a corporate relationship automatically qualifies the worker.

Coordinate an intra-company move by naming the legal home employer, host employer and actual assignment. Research the destination’s transfer route rather than assuming a corporate relationship automatically qualifies the worker.

What the official guidance establishes

The UK Senior or Specialist Worker route concerns an eligible job at the employer’s UK branch and has replaced the former Intra-company Transfer route. Its own requirements apply to that UK category. Read GOV.UK: Senior or Specialist Worker route for the original scope and current instructions.

Make the assignment concrete

Write the home and host entities, actual duties, work location and intended assignment dates. Keep a corporate brand name separate from the legal employer on the documents. Ask HR to resolve differences between the assignment letter and the proposed host role.

Split the employer responsibilities

Record who supplies immigration documents, who handles payroll and who owns benefits, insurance and the eventual return arrangement. Give the employee’s personal-document tasks their own column. Keep family-member applications distinct from the principal assignment.

Match the handover to the named route

Save the current official route and compare the employer’s proposed paperwork with its requirements. Raise an unclear tenure, role or entity-link question with the responsible immigration team or authority. A company transfer approval is one milestone, not an immigration decision.

Your working sheet

This is an optional IMMIGEUROPE planning worksheet, not an official application form or a new document requirement.

Worked planning example

A fictional multinational uses one brand in several countries. The employee’s worksheet identifies the distinct home and host legal entities before the transfer team prepares documents. It does not describe every group company as the same employer.

Keep the final assignment terms and route-specific evidence connected. Keep the next action in the moving planner and use the guide library for the next part of your move.
