Research Japanese student work permission before accepting a paid activity. Start with the residence record and any outside-activities permission you already have, then describe the proposed job accurately.
What the official guidance establishes
The Japanese Embassy’s FAQ directs Student and Dependent status holders asking about paid work to the outside-activities permission process with Japanese immigration authorities. Read Embassy of Japan in the UK: visa and re-entry questions for the original scope and current instructions.
Read what is actually recorded
Make a private note of the status, its validity and any separate permission or conditions recorded with it. Do not infer a permission from a classmate’s situation. If the wording is unclear, ask the school’s international office to help identify the correct official enquiry channel.
Describe the proposed work and study calendar
Record the activity, location, employer and intended schedule. Put term dates and breaks in a separate column for questions about the conditions that apply. This is a way to prepare a precise enquiry, not a calculation of permitted hours from a general article.
Resolve the permission question before the commitment
Ask the authority about the activity and the individual permission, including any condition that is difficult to understand. Ask the employer for a written proposed schedule so it can be compared with the answer. Save the official response alongside the offer rather than relying on a verbal assurance that all students may work.
Your working sheet
This is an optional IMMIGEUROPE planning worksheet, not an official application form or a new document requirement.
| Record | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Status | Exact Student record and validity |
| Separate permission | Actual record and its conditions |
| Activity | Employer, work type and location |
| Schedule question | Proposed pattern and relevant school dates |
Worked planning example
A fictional student is offered both a regular shift and an extra holiday assignment. They list both activities and dates in the enquiry. They do not assume an answer about one arrangement automatically covers the other.
Use the current individual permission and official instructions; no universal work-hour allowance is established by this worksheet. Keep the next action in the moving planner and use the guide library for the next part of your move.
