Compare the proposed job or location change with the conditions on your actual New Zealand visa. Resolve the permission process separately from the new employment contract.
Copy the conditions from the current visa record
INZ explains where to find work-visa conditions and distinguishes open work conditions from employer, job or location restrictions. It provides variation-of-conditions and Job Change processes, and says changing conditions does not change the visa expiry date. If conditions cannot be changed, a new visa may be needed. Read Immigration New Zealand: Check or change your work visa conditions.
Your working sheet
The following is an editorial organisation tool, not an official application checklist. Copy the rows that help and fill them with your own verified records.
| Check | What to record |
|---|---|
| Current condition | Copy the exact employer occupation location and expiry information |
| Proposed change | Describe what will actually differ in the new role |
| Process | Read whether the actual category uses Job Change variation of conditions or a new visa |
A practical example
Suppose an employer proposes the same duties in another location. The comparison sheet should identify the location change instead of assuming it is irrelevant because the employer remains the same. It should also preserve the existing expiry date as its own planning constraint.
Before the next step
Use the current INZ conditions page and category-specific form instructions. Ask the new employer for the evidence required by that process. Coordinate the start with confirmed permission and keep any extension research separate from the conditions change.
