Compare international transfers by the total paid and the amount the recipient can actually use. Put exchange rate, fees, delivery information and recipient details side by side before choosing.
What the official guidance establishes
US CFPB guidance for covered transfers identifies exchange rate, fees, taxes and amount received as disclosure information and describes receipt information about availability, cancellation and errors. Read US CFPB: international transfer costs and receipts for the original scope and current instructions.
Compare like with like
Request quotes for the same sending amount, currencies, recipient and delivery method. Record the quote time and whether the rate is promotional. Keep the final recipient amount visible; a small advertised fee does not by itself establish the least expensive complete transfer.
Verify the payment destination
Confirm the beneficiary name and account details through the recipient’s trusted channel. If instructions change unexpectedly, check independently before sending. Keep the provider’s actual terms and any stated recipient-bank deductions with the quote.
Retain evidence and help details
Save the transaction reference, receipt, expected availability and the provider’s problem-reporting instructions. If a transfer is delayed, report the actual transaction through the provider’s verified channel. Do not share a full receipt publicly when asking a general question.
Your working sheet
This is an optional IMMIGEUROPE planning worksheet, not an official application form or a new document requirement.
| Record | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Quote | Sending amount, currencies and timestamp |
| Total cost | Fees, taxes and conversion |

| Follow-up | Reference, availability and error channel |
Worked planning example
Two fictional quotes both send 1,000 units. The household compares the stated recipient amounts after the disclosed costs instead of choosing the one whose banner says “low fee.” These illustrative quotes are not endorsements of a provider.
Check the rules applicable to the provider and sending country; US protections should not be assumed worldwide. Keep the next action in the moving planner and use the guide library for the next part of your move.
