Compare the provider's offer with the actual enrolment record before preparing the Student application. Research the precise course and any packaged courses, rather than assuming a deposit receipt itself is the CoE.
Verify the provider and exact course
The official Student visa instructions describe enrolment evidence and Confirmation of Enrolment for intended courses, with specified exceptions. They connect the course to CRICOS and explain that a cancelled or completed course affects the CoE's validity. A course offer and the required enrolment evidence are therefore different records. Read Australian Home Affairs: Student visa subclass 500.
Your working sheet
The following is an editorial organisation tool, not an official application checklist. Copy the rows that help and fill them with your own verified records.
| Check | What to record |
|---|---|
| Provider and course | Record institution campus course and CRICOS information |
| Enrolment evidence | Check the CoE details or the official exception relevant to the case |
| Change | Ask how a deferral cancellation or new course changes the issued record |
A practical example
Suppose the course start is deferred after a CoE is issued. A useful enquiry asks the institution what enrolment record now applies and how the immigration file should reflect it. Keeping the original dates in the visa file while budgeting for a different course leaves an avoidable inconsistency.
Before the next step
Use the current subclass 500 guidance and the provider's official contact. Review enrolment, insurance and household preparation as separate tasks. Do not assume course admission or receipt of a CoE is the same as a visa grant.
Continue with the guide library or save the next task in the moving planner. Official requirements can change; the source above was checked on 17 October 2026.
