Prepare a CPF enquiry by identifying your applicant situation, the Receita Federal service channel and the organisation asking for the record. Keep this tax-registration task separate from immigration permission research.

What the official guidance establishes

Receita Federal’s CPF service covers Brazilian and foreign individuals, residents and non-residents, and directs applicants to enter information as shown in their identification records. Read Receita Federal: CPF registration for the original scope and current instructions.

Clarify the requested outcome

Write whether you need a first registration, a correction, a regularisation or evidence of an existing registration. Do not start a first-registration task merely because you cannot find an old confirmation. Explain the actual issue to the official service without publishing your number.

Match the service to your location

On the current Receita Federal page, follow the applicant and residence channel that matches your situation. Save any generated protocol and the instructions accompanying it. If an in-person or consular step is shown, record it as a separate dependency rather than assuming the online form completed the service.

Ask the bank or employer a precise question

Confirm whether the recipient wants the CPF number, a registration confirmation, an identity document or another record. Put its answer beside the request. This prevents a correct tax document from being sent in response to a different onboarding question.

Your working sheet

This is an optional IMMIGEUROPE planning worksheet, not an official application form or a new document requirement.

Worked planning example

A fictional newcomer remembers having a CPF from an earlier stay but has lost the paper. They record an existing-record enquiry, not a second identity. They also ask the employer whether the number itself or a particular confirmation is needed.

Protect the identifier as personal information and use the official channel for corrections. Keep the next action in the moving planner and use the guide library for the next part of your move.
