Comparing study funding offers: identify conditions beyond the headline award

Compare study-funding offers by coverage, conditions and payment timing, then fit each into the same household budget. A larger headline award can still leave a different practical gap.

Compare study-funding offers by coverage, conditions and payment timing, then fit each into the same household budget. A larger headline award can still leave a different practical gap.

What the official guidance establishes

UK Student financial guidance distinguishes course fees from support costs and requires evidence for loan or sponsorship funding when that is the basis used. The funding comparison below is an editorial budget tool, not an immigration acceptance test. Read GOV.UK: Student visa financial evidence for the original scope and current instructions.

Use the actual award documents

Write the amount, currency, covered period and benefits for each offer. Separate cash paid to you from tuition or services paid directly. Mark a benefit described only in marketing as unconfirmed until it is in the applicable terms.

Compare obligations as well as amounts

Record the actual continuation, academic performance, reporting, work, service or return conditions stated by each funder. Leave a condition blank only when it is genuinely absent or not stated, and ask the funder about ambiguity. Do not infer an immigration outcome from a scholarship’s prestige.

Compare the same cost scenarios

Apply both packages to the same tuition, arrival and living-cost assumptions. Add relevant family expenses separately. Compare the first payment date with the deposit and travel dates, and keep a delayed-start question visible before accepting an offer that creates an obligation.

Your working sheet

This is an optional IMMIGEUROPE planning worksheet, not an official application form or a new document requirement.

Worked planning example

In a fictional comparison, Award A pays tuition directly while Award B offers a cash allowance with a later release date. The student compares each against the same real course bill and arrival schedule. The worksheet does not rank awards from their headline amounts alone.

Keep the accepted award terms and the route’s financial-evidence requirements separately documented. Keep the next action in the moving planner and use the guide library for the next part of your move.
