Ask a study provider for a documented decision about delay, deferral or refund using your actual course timeline and payment terms. Distinguish a pending visa decision from a refusal or voluntary cancellation.

What the official guidance establishes

The UK CMA’s undergraduate-student guidance emphasises clear terms, payment arrangements and cancellation information. It does not establish an automatic worldwide refund whenever a visa decision is delayed. Read UK CMA: consumer rights for undergraduate students for the original scope and current instructions.

Build the timeline from records

List the offer, deposit, course start, latest permitted arrival and immigration submission dates using the evidence you actually have. Keep a forecast decision date labelled as a forecast, not a promise. Identify the first provider deadline needing attention.

Read the applicable policy by scenario

Find the terms in force for your payment and distinguish delay, refusal, deferral and withdrawal. Record what evidence the provider asks for and how to submit it. If the policy is silent about your situation, put that exact gap in the enquiry.

Request a usable written answer

State the course, applicant reference, relevant dates and the action you are requesting. Ask about the revised start, remaining payment, deposit treatment and any change to sponsorship documents. Keep the provider’s decision separate from the immigration authority’s decision and retain both.

Your working sheet

This is an optional IMMIGEUROPE planning worksheet, not an official application form or a new document requirement.

Worked planning example

A fictional student still has no visa decision near the provider’s arrival deadline. They request a deferral decision and ask how the deposit and course documentation would be handled. They do not describe the pending case as a refusal to fit a different policy clause.

Raise the provider question while its stated deadlines can still be met. Keep the next action in the moving planner and use the guide library for the next part of your move.
